COMPETITION KICK
STARTED FOR BARRIE KARATE KIDS
The martial arts competition
season kick started this past
weekend (Feb 27th) with
the Ontario Provincial
Open Championships in
Hamilton where seven karate students from
RMA Karate of Barrie attended with
intent to show their best.
Six-year-old yellow belt Ella
Z did amazingly well at the elite
competition placing third in sparring and
fifth in
both the kata and weapons
division. Older siblings
Brooke Z, a green belt, placed fourth in
sparring and fifth
in both the kata and weapons
division while older brother Tyler M-Z, a
blue belt, placed fifth in kata, fifth in
sparring and was a finalist
in the weapons division.
Green belt Jacob G placed
second in kata and brown belt Samantha M
placed first in musical weapons,
second in sparring and fifth
in both the kata and weapons divisions.
Black belt Tressa Y tested
new forms she has been working on over
the winter with positive results.
Young
placed first in traditional
kata, second in musical weapons, third in
traditional weapons and also won the
title of
junior black belt grand
champion.
RMA Karate located in the
north end of Barrie is currently
accepting new students age 3 years to
adult. Limited
space is available as classes
