KARATE KIDS COMPETE IN LONDON

Students from RMA Karate Centres in Barrie have become very successful at tournaments with good
results at local and national competitions.   Many students from the local club are part of the Northern
Dragons competition team where they receive special weekly training pushing the athletes even more.

"The special training program compliments regular classes for the students and heightens the competition
level for the athletes" head instructor, 3rd degree black belt Craig Ridout stated.   "It's all volunteered time
by the RMA instructors and is provided free to the team members," Ridout said.

"All the athletes have to do is dedicate themselves to the training.  We feel if they want to do it, let's get
them on track to do it right.  We treat them like athletes and they're getting the results."

The latest competition for the karate students was in London, Ontario at the Power Nationals.  7 RMA
students competed giving their best and were up against tough competition including martial artists who are
nationally and internationally recognized for their prowess.

Yellow belt William M moved up to the intermediate sparring division competing against higher belt
martial artists, a decision he made after finding out there was no one in his own beginner division.  The 11 year
old did amazingly well placing third in the intermediate sparring and first in the beginner kata division.

Orange belt Codie M placed second in weapons, fourth in sparring and 5th in weapons.  Younger
sibling purple belt Samantha M placed third in kata, fifth in weapons and sparring and was also a finalist
in the musical division.

Orange belt Brooke Z placed fifth in the weapons and sparring divisions while also being a finalist in the kata
division.  Older brother 14 year old Tyler M-Z placed first in kata, second in sparring and third in the
weapons division.    Orange belt Jacob M placed second in weapons, fifth in sparring and was a finalist in the
kata division.

Black belt instructor Tressa Young competed in two divisions at the event and continues to perform well placing
second in traditional kata and second in traditional weapons.   All 7 martial artists continue with the regular and
extra training at RMA.  To learn more call 716-8014 or visit www.rmakarate.com.
